Derwent Valley Cycleway
I have just taken some of the most important photos for my forthcoming book on the Derwent Valley Mills World Heritage Site… important because they point to such a positive future for the Derwent Valley: a designated riverside cycleway all along the 15-mile stretch of the valley from Cromford to Derby. It would be wonderful to see this vision realised, not least because cycling on the road has increased 12% in the last decade – in Derby it’s up by 25% – 10% of people use a bike to get to work, AND… traffic congestion costs the UK economy over £20 billion a year so anything that can help that is very welcome.
