I’ve just processed my photos from the recent Belper Food & Drink Festival and it’s reminded me of a day I felt proud to consider myself a Belperian. The Festival began in 2007 in the rain, and with a couple of dozen stalls. It rained on the next four festivals, though the stalls and the crowds increased. Last year, the event truly arrived: 80 stalls and sunshine, with a craft and arts trail element added.
This year, it was consolidation. Over 100 stalls and even more crowds revelling in the atmosphere and wilting in the heat. I have never seen Belper heaving with so many people. Below is a gallery of 24 photos, some of which will form the July montage of my Belper Calendar.
Better still, I nipped down to the River Gardens to snap the well dressings and captured another calendar page – of boaters on the Derwent.
